Lindell ended his season on a high note – "Overall rating for the season: 9+"

Oliver Lindell got the finish he wanted for his season at the DP World Tour Championship. He shot a 68 (-4) in the final round. His total score of -7 was enough for a T28 finish in the season finale. The Porvoo native did not make any major mistakes in the final round, and apart from four birdies, there were no other scores deviating from par on his scorecard.

"I hit the fairway well today, even though I didn't hit the ball. My shots had a good arc, the familiar slight fade, but they didn't fly anywhere. There were a few long birdie putts where I could have ended up with three putts, but there was no real danger of bogey. It was a good day, of course I left a few birdies on the course, but I managed to sink the short putts today," said Lindell.

Lindell managed to improve his game as the tournament progressed, and his score improved steadily day by day. He himself highlighted this as a source of joy during the final week. The hours spent on the practice range were by no means wasted, as in these competitions every single stroke improvement brings a significant increase in points and money.

Accuracy in the opening shots was again found on Sunday, and the Finn missed only three greens, each by a narrow margin. Her approach shots were sometimes long, but the putting she found on the third day was also at a good level today. It is always pointless to speculate, but if the Porvoo native had been reasonably successful with her putter on all four days, a top position would have been within reach. Lindell himself calls for consistency on the greens when looking back on the season. He gives himself an excellent 9+ overall rating for his season.

"Considering how I feel about my game, it was a great season and I achieved my goals. My ranking of around 40th is pretty much in line with how I feel about my performance. Looking ahead to next season, I need to be even better off the tee. Another goal is to get my putting consistent regardless of the conditions. It works well in Europe, but it's different here," Lindell summed up his season.

The battle for victory in the competition is expected to be a close one. Playing on his home course, Laurie Canter is tied at -17 with three golfing giants: Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Ludvig Åberg. Åberg is the only one of the four who has completed his round.
