Lindell was the best of the bunch on Sunday! – "The best rounds of the season"

Oliver Lindell showed his best skills on the DP World Tour in Madrid, playing a top score of 65 (-6) in the final round. This means he will climb almost 30 places in the rankings, as the Finn fired the best round of the entire field on Sunday, together with Spain's Jon Rahm.

"Today was a really strong performance, with lots of birdie opportunities on the back nine. It's been a really chaotic week, unlike any other this season. But today I had one of my best rounds of the season. It was an important success at the end of the week, as it now guarantees me a place in the second final tournament in Dubai, and I can play the Abu Dhabi tournament without any pressure," said Lindell.

His overall score of -6 is enough for a T27 finish in the competition. The front nine of the round, which started from the tenth tee, included four birdies, some of which came from unexpected places. There was also one bogey, while on the back nine (holes 1-9) Lindell played bogey-free, finishing with three birdies. There was even more to come, as the round was about to end with quite a bonus.

"On the 7th hole, I hit a 7-iron on my second shot, which hit the flagstick. It was very close to an albatross, but unfortunately I didn't get the eagle putt in. My putts were better on the front nine than on the back nine, but I putted really well again today. It felt like I could sink a putt from anywhere. It was a good performance, no doubt about it."

Lindell started today on a completely different footing compared to yesterday. After sinking a chip on the 12th hole, the Finn was already two under par, compared to +2 yesterday.

Finding his groove with the putter was an important sign ahead of the upcoming finals – now there is no need to guess which club will be used on the greens in the United Arab Emirates.

The competition will be decided in a play-off between two Englishmen, Marco Penge and Daniel Brown. The winner will earn spots in next season's Major tournaments – the Masters and The Open. Penge, the tour's longest hitter, has already won two competitions this season and will move up to the PGA Tour. Brown has one win under his belt this season.
